2023 Term 1 Week 6
From the Principal - Term 1, Week 6
Dear Parents and Carers.
Last week I had the privilege of attending the Year 5 camp. It was a wonderful opportunity to watch our students challenge themselves, step out of their comfort zone, develop resilience and show case their amazing talents. School camps provide opportunities for our students to shine in ways that we don’t get to see in the classroom and each and everyone of them did so in their own way. I am very proud of the way they supported each other, rose to the challenges, and embraced the new experiences. Camps however would not be possible without the commitment of the staff attending and those taking on the extra responsibilities back at school. I am extremely grateful for all that the staff at Trinity do for our students and look forward to the Year 4 camp in May and Year 6 camp in November.
Family Learning Conversations were held last night and will be held again tonight. These meetings are an important opportunity to build a positive working relationship between home and school to ensure we can provide rich learning opportunities for all students. Thank you to the teachers for their preparation for the meetings and to the students for sharing and celebrating their learning with their families. If you were unable to attend the meetings, I encourage you to contact your child’s teacher to arrange an alternative meeting time.
This Friday we will be hosting our first fundraising event since before Covid – The Trinity Colour Fun Run/Walk. We are very excited about the event and the opportunity to come together to celebrate our vibrant school community. A huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers who have generously given their time to lead the school’s fundraising initiatives and to the volunteers who have offered their support and time at the event. A reminder letter was sent home on Monday with all students and via email detailing the afternoon, starting from 2pm. This information can also be found in the newsletter. If you haven’t already paid for your child to participate in the event, please do so through CDF Pay or the School Office.
Thank you also to our sponsors for the event that have covered the cost of the icy poles and some of the coloured powder.

Mary Ellen works closely with the staff at Trinity so they can provide support to the students in their care during those challenging moments in life. Mary Ellen also works with families (not the child) to provide support and strategies. If you would like the opportunity to meet and speak with MaryEllen please contact Miss Farrelly through the School Office to arrange a time when she is next at Trinity.

Religious Education- Term 1, Week 6
This semester, our students are focused on Jesus. At it's heart, the purpose of our Religious Education to inviting the students into a relationship with God, through learning about the life of Jesus. Whether they take that relationship is up to them, but we can all learn something from the person, the teacher, Jesus.
There is more writings about Jesus than any historical figure of the time. There are ancient texts written about 50 years after Jesus by Roman governors who were not overly fond of his work.
What we do have is many texts that were written at different times, in different locations and by different people. There are commonalities between these stories that allow theologians and historians to piece together Jesus' life.
Much of what we do know about Jesus is actually from a short period of his life, in the time leading up to his death and as Catholics believe, his resurrection.
What is critical is to understand the times that these texts were written in. These were difficult times. These were often brutal times and a society vastly different to today's society. The language used was different, and the meaning of words then, are often different now.
Take the word 'Love'. When Jesus used this word, he referred to the concept of Love at the time. To Love someone was not simply a romantic notion, rather, to see something good in the person. To see their humanity. This is different to today's understanding, however, once we learn this, the texts take on a new meaning.
When we are called to love one another, what we are called to do is see the humanity in each other. To look for the good. We are not required to let our defences down, to trust everyone which is required in a loving relationship. Once we understand that, we can begin to create a community based on God's love, one we are called to create at Trinity.

ARTSONIA Artsonia is the world’s largest online student art museum. and showcases artwork from thousands of schools around the world. Students work is uploaded to Artsonia (an online international gallery). Trinity’s gallery has over 35,000 piece of artwork in its Gallery . You will receive an email asking for permission for your child to be part of the Trinity Art community, I ask that you give permission through this email. Its goals are to develop students’ pride and self-esteem, increase their multicultural understanding through art and involve parents and relatives in students’ education and accomplishments. Your child or I upload their child’s artwork onto the website. Artsonia is a unique, safe, and educational opportunity for the students. You or others in your family can comment on your child’s artwork: One of the most exciting features about being published on Artsonia’s Art Museum is that friends and family from anywhere in the world can leave a nice comment for the artist and become a fan club member of the artist. If you wish to have a look at what Trinity’s Artsonia website looks like, here is the link https://www.artsonia.com/schools/school.asp?id=158043 |
ART AND LITERACY COMPETITION Trinity participates in the promotion of Literacy and Art links. Last year we had a student win the Balnaves Foundation Literary Award for Poetry from entries all around Australia, we also had other winners in this national competition in both the Arts category and the Literacy category. Students are able to upload both their artwork and any poems or stories they may have written. Competition closes on the 30th of September. Oz Kids was initiated in the early 90's by The Australian Children's Literary Board, a Not-For-Profit Organisation primarily focused on the literary needs of our young children. Oz Kids is a magazine which we distribute on a national basis and publish online through this website. Its purpose is to promote and support children's literary and artistic talents and to provide a vehicle for children to appreciate and develop their skills and encourage them to continue in the arts, especially when they see their work published. |

NAPLAN 2023
NAPLAN will be held earlier this year. All Year 3 and 5 students will complete NAPLAN between the 15th of March and the 27th of March.
If any families in Year 3 or Year 5 have holidays booked during this time, could they please email me (paul.sharp@trinitynarre.catholic.edu.au), so we can factor this into our planning.
We use NAPLAN to provide us with feedback about how we can improve our teaching, whilst parents are provided with a snapshot of how their child is progressing. For us, it is one assessment that make up a thorough Assessment Schedule and should not present any stress for students, as they are well versed at completing online assessments.
More information can be found on the link below.

Trinity Car Park Etiquette
- For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
- Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOT a meeting area.

- The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDING zones. If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
- There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park. All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
- THE GATES CLOSE AT 8.50am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close for the day at 3:30pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
