De-escalation Training
On Monday the staff at Trinity participated in a six-hour training course through Team Teach around de-escalation. The day was facilitated by DOSCEL trainers and focused on understanding that all behaviour is a form of communication, and it is a way of meeting a need. The course supported staff to understand their role in the de-escalation process and their responsibilities in understanding behaviour. It was an extremely valuable day that highlighted the importance of building strong positive relationships with the students and working together with families to develop a supportive and proactive environment. The strategies explored on Monday will now form part of our Whole School Approach to Positive Behaviour Support and Miss Farrelly will work with the team to ensure consistent approaches across the school.

Thank you to everyone for all the wonderful Easter donations today for the raffle. These items will be bundled on Friday to create lots of prizes for our raffle. Religious Education- Term 1, Week 10
We all wish life was laid out on a red carpet. The reality is, that no has has that. Instagram influencers might want us to believe it, yet it is well documented many of them struggle the most.
Last week, we here about Lazarus returning from the dead, being resuscitated to life by Jesus. The question we could wonder, what type of life was he returning to? The fact is we don't know, but what we can assume it was a life of continued struggle, of challenges along with moments of Joy.
Over Easter, we also hear the story of Jesus meeting people on the way to Emmaus, theologians would suggest they were two of the disciples who travelled along with Jesus. Even with Jesus in front of them, they struggled to believe, they were overcome by doubt. Doubt which can lead to fear, or even anger. The alternative, Faith, is much harder.
With a group of Grade 5 students, I broke open this text by playing them a snippet of Michael Jordan's Playground. While all the factual elements may have some mayonaise, the message is clear, with faith you can overcome doubt. More importantly, we can not expect the journey is easy.
In three weeks, I will take on another challenge, one that will bring doubt, challenge and joy....but I can not expect that to be everyday. I am so grateful to this school, and the families within this school, who I have journeyed with. Some people I have had many interactions, some only fleeting. However, each student in this school will remain in my heart, and my two wishes for them:
That they will learn over time to accept situations they can control, and they will work hard to grow with the ones they can. Ultimately, that they will find joy through that faith, but understand it all won't be easy.

ARTSONIA Artsonia is the world’s largest online student art museum. and showcases artwork from thousands of schools around the world. Students work is uploaded to Artsonia (an online international gallery). Trinity’s gallery has over 35,000 piece of artwork in its Gallery . You will receive an email asking for permission for your child to be part of the Trinity Art community, I ask that you give permission through this email. Its goals are to develop students’ pride and self-esteem, increase their multicultural understanding through art and involve parents and relatives in students’ education and accomplishments. Your child or I upload their child’s artwork onto the website. Artsonia is a unique, safe, and educational opportunity for the students. You or others in your family can comment on your child’s artwork: One of the most exciting features about being published on Artsonia’s Art Museum is that friends and family from anywhere in the world can leave a nice comment for the artist and become a fan club member of the artist. If you wish to have a look at what Trinity’s Artsonia website looks like, here is the link |
ART AND LITERACY COMPETITION Trinity participates in the promotion of Literacy and Art links. Last year we had a student win the Balnaves Foundation Literary Award for Poetry from entries all around Australia, we also had other winners in this national competition in both the Arts category and the Literacy category. Students are able to upload both their artwork and any poems or stories they may have written. Competition closes on the 30th of September. Oz Kids was initiated in the early 90's by The Australian Children's Literary Board, a Not-For-Profit Organisation primarily focused on the literary needs of our young children. Oz Kids is a magazine which we distribute on a national basis and publish online through this website. Its purpose is to promote and support children's literary and artistic talents and to provide a vehicle for children to appreciate and develop their skills and encourage them to continue in the arts, especially when they see their work published. |
