From the Principal - Term 2, Week 4
Dear parents and guardians.
I hope you all had a lovely day on Sunday celebrating the wonderful mother figures in your lives.
Last Wednesday and Friday we held two special Mother’s Day Breakfasts. It was amazing to see so many mums, grandmas, nanas, and special friends spending time with their precious children. Over the two days we feed almost 600 people. A huge thank you to the Trinity staff who organised and facilitated the event and to the group of wonderful dads that came along to help us serve the breakfast.
Congratulations to the 16 lucky mothers who won a prize in our Mother’s Day raffle which was very generously donated by Maxwell and Williams.
Thank you also to the wonderful group of mums that ran the Mother’s Day Stall with the office ladies last Thursday. The students thoroughly enjoyed shopping for their mums, and this would not have been possible without the support of our parent community.
Catholic Education Week
Theme: Catholic Schools – Places of Encounter
“Let the words you speak always be full of Grace.”
This Friday marks the beginning of Catholic Education Week for 2023. Catholic Education Week is an opportunity for all members of a school community to focus on the unconditional love of God and how this love is demonstrated throughout our lives and in our academic and spiritual pursuits. At Trinity, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, Catholic school, where everyone is accepted and valued for who they are. It is here that the students are invited to develop a capacity for reflection, for deepening their appreciation of their life, the lives of others and the environment and to look to the future with optimism and hope; being open to seeing God in all things. For more information on how the school will acknowledge Catholic Education Week, please refer to Miss Rogers section of the newsletter.
Staff Shortages
You will have heard lately in the news about the current shortage of teachers across all education sectors. This is currently our reality at Trinity and as the colder weather impacts the health of our staff and their families, we are beginning to feel the pain of not being able to cover all classes with familiar staff or even casual relief teachers. Last week we were unable to cover a teacher on two occasions which saw myself and Miss Farrelly covering the classes and on Monday we had to split a grade as we were not able to help due to the commitments of our own roles. Unfortunately, this won’t be the last time it happens. We will always do everything we can to try and staff the grades each day but there will be times when grades will be required to continue their learning in another classroom. I thank you in advance for your support and understanding in this matter.
Fundraising for cancer
Last Monday we raised over $600 for Ovarian Cancer Research. Thank you to all the students for their kind donation and for helping us raise awareness about the disease.
Trinity Cross Country
On Monday we held our annual Cross-Country event. The weather was perfect, and the students did themselves proud pushing themselves out of their comfort zone to run between 500m and 3km, depending on their age group. Congratulations to the students who will represent Trinity next Monday 22nd May at the District Cross Country at Casey Fields. Thank you to Mrs Woolf for her coordination on the day, Mrs Cahill for the preparation and the parents and students who assisted with the supervision on the course. The event would not have been possible without the support of everyone involved.
Pick Up Reminders
Just a friendly reminder that it is expected that families are at school either waiting outside the classroom, in the car park or at the front gate by 3.15pm. Students are expected to wait in the pickup shelter if parents are not there waiting when they come out of class. This is where the supervision is after school. Please support us in reminding your children where to wait and by being on time to collect them at the end of the day. Supervision in the morning begins from 8.30am when the gates open. Please do not drop your children off before this time as teachers have meetings before school.
School Dental Service
This week we have had the Semper Dental Group at school carrying out oral health examinations with eligible families. Thank you to the families that returned their forms and have engaged in the service. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Students bringing personal items from home .
We have noticed an increase in students bringing toys from home. Any items brought from home are to be kept in the child’s school bag unless previously discussed with the teacher. These items are the responsibility of the child and not the school. If they end up on the school roof, they will not be able to be retrieved until our roof and air conditioner maintenance is carried out during the school holidays as only contractors with a ladder licence are permitted up on the roof. This is an OH & S requirement.

Term 2, Week 4 Religious Education
Dear Families,
What an exciting time it is in the Catholic Calendar for Trinity! In the next couple of weeks we will be celebrating a number of notable events at school and within our parish.
Catholic Education Week - 19th-26th May
Next week we celebrate Catholic Education Week with the theme of ‘Catholic Schools: Places of Encounter’ guided by the scripture “Let the words you speak be full of Grace” Colossians 4:6. This is an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful achievements of Catholic schools. To commemorate this important celebration the Social Justice Leaders will be representing Trinity at the Catholic Education Week Parish Mass on Sunday 21st at 9am and 11am. This is a wonderful opportunity to make connections with our parish community and highlight what makes Trinity such a great place to learn and grow in faith.
Trinity Feast Day - Friday 2nd June
In Week 6, we will be celebrating our Trinity Feast Day mass on Friday 2nd June in our school hall. Reflecting upon the Trinity is always a challenging mystery to define with students, but it is at the centrepoint of our Catholic faith. Catholics believe in one God known as three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is a relationship of love and unity. The Holy Spirit is the expression of the loving relationship between the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit, is active in the world and is recognisable whenever humanity accepts the invitation to live in right relationship with God and all creation. The students will take part in activities to reflect upon the mystery of the Trinity and engage in celebration of our feast day.
Parish Family Mass - Saturday 3rd June
We will be coming together as a school and parish community to celebrate our Parish Family Mass. This will be on Saturday 3rd of June at 6pm. We warmly invite all families to attend this mass to help strengthen the connection between Our Lady Help Of Christians Parish and Trinity Primary School. We would love to see students be involved in this mass by reading, or being involved in procession. We will send out a permission form in the coming week for families to indicate their interest.

Year 3 Incursion - Term 2 Week 4
On Monday the 8th of May, the Year Three students were able to participate in an Aboriginal Art incursion where we made paint out of clay, ochre and water. This incursion was included as part of our history unit where the students are learning about the history and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. We used this paint to decorate our own boomerangs using Aboriginal symbols, including the symbol for people, kangaroos, birds and wallabies. We learnt about why these symbols are important to Aboriginal culture and storytelling. The students had an absolute blast during the session and have continued to find ochre to create paint at play!

TRINITY CROSS COUNTRY DAY
On Monday 15th May, we held our whole school cross country carnival on our school grounds. The students displayed great sportsmanship by supporting and encouraging one another. Cross country running can be challenging and requires determination, a positive attitude and resilience, which the students all used to help them successfully complete the course. As the students crossed the finish line, it was great to see the pride on their faces and even a sense of relief! Thank you to our wonderful parent helpers, Julie, Max, Renee, Jessica, Justine and Gerard for assisting and guiding the students along the course. Thank you also to our fantastic sport captains, Jessica, Grace A, Harper T, Jai, Harper O, Hunter, Zoe and Charlie for assisting throughout the day and to Joel F and Filmon for supporting the junior students. Thank you to all the Trinity staff for assisting and supporting the students.
Congratulations to the students from grades 4 -6 who placed in the top 10 in their age group, who will represent Trinity at District Cross Country on Monday 22nd May. We wish you all the very best.

ARTSONIA Artsonia is the world’s largest online student art museum. and showcases artwork from thousands of schools around the world. Students work is uploaded to Artsonia (an online international gallery). Trinity’s gallery has over 35,000 piece of artwork in its Gallery . You will receive an email asking for permission for your child to be part of the Trinity Art community, I ask that you give permission through this email. Its goals are to develop students’ pride and self-esteem, increase their multicultural understanding through art and involve parents and relatives in students’ education and accomplishments. Your child or I upload their child’s artwork onto the website. Artsonia is a unique, safe, and educational opportunity for the students. You or others in your family can comment on your child’s artwork: One of the most exciting features about being published on Artsonia’s Art Museum is that friends and family from anywhere in the world can leave a nice comment for the artist and become a fan club member of the artist. ART AND LITERACY COMPETITION Trinity participates in the promotion of Literacy and Art links. Last year we had a student win the Balnaves Foundation Literary Award for Poetry from entries all around Australia, we also had other winners in this national competition in both the Arts category and the Literacy category. Students are able to upload both their artwork and any poems or stories they may have written. Competition closes on the 30th of September. Oz Kids was initiated in the early 90's by The Australian Children's Literary Board, a Not-For-Profit Organisation primarily focused on the literary needs of our young children. Oz Kids is a magazine which we distribute on a national basis and publish online through this website. Its purpose is to promote and support children's literary and artistic talents and to provide a vehicle for children to appreciate and develop their skills and encourage them to continue in the arts, especially when they see their work published. |
