2023 Term 2 Week 8
From the Principal - Term 2, Week 8
Welcome to Week 8! This term has flown by, and school holidays are just around the corner with the term only being nine weeks in length. School holidays will begin next Friday 23rd June. As this is the last newsletter for this term, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all families for their continued support, patience and understanding when staff have been away due to illness, and we haven’t been able to replace them and have had to split classes. The resilience displayed by the students on these challenging days is commendable. I would also like to thank our wonderful part time staff who have taken on extra days of work to help us out when they could and to the teaching, admin and support staff for their willingness to cover extra duties and for being flexible when timetables have had to change at the last minute. School life definitely requires people to be flexible!
We are now well and truly into winter and the weather is noticeably colder and our grounds unfortunately are already quite damp with puddles forming in the lower lying areas. Last Friday we had a significant number of children asking for a change of clothes as they had fallen either in a puddle or they were playing football and soccer and their shoes and socks ended up wet and muddy. We only have a small amount of clothes that we can give out from the sick bay so if all families could please place a change of socks and pants in their child’s bag (if they like to play sport on the oval) that would be greatly appreciated.
We have also noticed in an increase in the number of children coming to school unwell with a wide range of symptoms. Whilst people in the community are not mandated to isolate if they are unwell, school staff still are if they have any symptoms. I do ask that if your child is unwell to please refrain from sending them to school until they have either recovered or are over their infectious period. I know this may seem like an inconvenience, but I’m sure reoccurring illness are more of one and the viruses seem to be continuing. I thank you for your willingness to protect everyone within our school community.
I hope all staff, students and families enjoy a restful, safe, and healthy winter break.
School Car Park and School Crossing
In the past week there have been two incidents where school families having been travelling along the road in front of the school car park and have either nearly hit the crossing supervisor or a parked car out the front. This morning we also had a parent drop their child off down the side of the car park (not in the drop off bays) and the child walked in front of another moving vechile. It is extremely disappointing that I have to remind parents about being safe around children. I can’t stress how important it is to be patient, drive slowly, follow the rules set and be considerate of those around you. The last thing anyone wants is for an accident to happen and someone to be seriously injured. Please allow yourself extra time in both the morning and afternoon so these types of situations can be avoided. Next time someone may not be so lucky.
2024 Foundation Enrolments
We are almost full for Foundation 2024 enrolments with only a couple of places remaining. If you know someone that hasn’t submitted their application, please ask them to do so ASAP as by next week we are likely to be full and then they will need to be placed on a waiting list. As much as we don’t want to turn people away, it is a great position for the school to be in with so many people wanting to be apart of our wonderful community.
Billy Gs Cookie Dough Drive – School Fundraiser
Last Friday all families received a Billy Gs Cookie Dough fundraising brochure and letter. This is our major fundraiser for the term. In just 6 days we have had 65 families sign up and so far, we have raised $1848 for the school. This is an amazing effort from just 63 families. If you would like to purchase a tub of cookie dough but do not want to sign up or do not know how to sign up, you can still support the fundraiser by ordering through the school office. We still have until Friday 23rd June to order so let’s see how much we can raise together! If you did not receive a form, please ask your child to collect a spare one from the office.
Scholastic book fair is coming!!!
We are excited to announce that we will be holding our annual Scholastic Book Fair during the Family Learning Conversations on the evenings of Tuesday the 18th and Thursday the 20th of July. This will be an ideal opportunity for you to browse the shelves with your children before or after your Family Learning Conversations. The Fair will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room for your convenience.
There will be a huge variety of books to choose from and the prices are very reasonable with lots of specials. It is well worth a visit and all the purchases help to support the library by enabling us to build up our shelves with many more good quality books. We look forward to seeing you there.
Regional Cross Country
Congratulations to Jessica (6C) and Lucas (5C) who competed in the Regional Cross Country today down at Hastings. It is a huge achievement to get to this level of competition and both students should be proud of their individual achievements.

Dear Families,
Trinity Feast Day
I wanted to take a moment to thank the amazing volunteers who helped to cook and serve over 600 sausages on our Trinity Feast Day! We are incredibly grateful for your time and generosity. The volunteers went above and beyond to make sure the day ran smoothly, including washing up the utensils afterward! What a beautiful moment of witness to the community we have created here at Trinity.
Feast of the Sacred Heart
This Friday, we celebrate the Feast Of The Sacred Heart of Jesus. This is a significant feast in the Church that highlights our call to support people with love, to reach out and help people, to show kindness and take real action to support other people. Our Middle Level will participate in a level mass with Fr Ajin to commemorate this important feast.
St Vincent de Paul Donations
Thank you to all the families who have donated non-perishable food to St Vincent de Paul over the past few weeks. The organisation was very grateful for our generosity as there are many families in need and dwindling resources. As we celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart, we reflect on how our actions can show our love for others. How our small acts of kindness can have a positive impact on our community in need. We will continue to encourage students to bring donations when celebrating their level mass each term, however if you wish to donate food at other times please drop it off at the front office.
Sacrament Dates
Many of our Trinity students are excitedly waiting to celebrate their First Eucharist beginning on 24th of June and running through to the 8th of October! For the families who are celebrating, remember to check the Sacrament Booklet for your child’s rehearsal and celebration mass.
If you are interested in supporting your child to complete the sacraments, please contact the Our Lady Help of Christians Parish Office on (03) 9704 7935 or using the website link below.
Prayer Buddies - Term 3
Beginning Sunday 16th July 11am, Our Lady Help of Christians is trialling a new program called ‘Prayer Buddies’. Students are invited to sit with Mr Dannaoui or Miss Rogers during the mass and during communion reflection, use the chapel space to ask any wondering question they have about what is happening in the mass and why. It’s a great way to help build student understanding and connect with the parish. Please contact me on emily.rogers@trinitynarre.catholic.edu.au or Joseph on joseph.dannaoui@trinitynarre.catholic.edu.au for more information.

Online Safety - eSafety Commissioner
Last week, while watching Parental Guidance, it was a scary reminder of how innocently and quickly children can share personal information to strangers they believe to be fellow children while playing online. At Trinity, we reguarly speak to children about how they can be safe online. This term, students and families have also been asked to read, agree and sign our revised Student ICT Agreement.
One resource we use at Trinity is the eSafety Commissioner website. The eSafety Commissioner has a range of resources to support educators, parents and children.
Next term, they will be continuing to offer a number of free webinars to help provide parents and carers with the knowledge, skills and tools to support their children to have safe, positive online experiences.
The link to find out more and register to the webinars is attached below.
