2023 Term 3 Week 4
From the Principal - Term 3, Week 4
Welcome to week 4!
As parents our lives revolve around our children, their schooling and their extracurricular activities. One of the highlights of my weeks is being able to watch my boys participate in what they love doing most, their sport. Participating in these activities each week is not only a great way for them to keep fit and healthy, but also a valuable opportunity to develop friendships, follow and understand rules and procedures and to develop resilience and respect for those around them. Whether it is sport, music or the arts, allowing our children to try different things until they find their interest and passion is an important part of growing up. At Trinity, we pride ourselves on being able to offer a wide range of opportunities for our students to assist them in their learning and personal development. All students are encouraged to “have a go” with every activity offered. Please keep an eye on the calendar in PAM for these opportunities.
2024 Planning
It’s crazy to think that next week will mark halfway through Term 3. In the coming weeks we will start our forward planning for 2024 which will involve staff Annual Review Meetings and speaking to the students about the peers that best support them in their learning.
If parents have a genuine reason for class placement requests for next year, could you please put them in writing addressed to myself by Friday 8th September. An enormous amount of time and effort is put into the creation of class lists and many factors are taken into consideration by the staff. A written request will be considered on its merits but it is not a guarantee. At Trinity we work on a whole school approach and are blessed to have a committed teaching staff who collaborate to give the very best learning opportunities to all students in our care. With this in mind, I ask that you please do not request a certain teacher for your child or for their friends. The students will have the opportunity to identify a number of their peers that they work with and relate well too. Please be aware that a request has to be made for the current year, we will not be referring to requests made 12 months ago as circumstances change.
Late Arrivals
We have noticed an increase this term in the number of students arriving late each morning. Unless your child has an appointment to attend before school, it is important that they are settled and ready to start their learning at 8.45am. Children arriving late not only miss out on important instruction, but it disrupts the learning of other students. The gates close at 8.45am so all students arriving after this time must report to the office to be marked present on the class roll.
Foundation 100 Days of School
Tomorrow our Foundation students will celebrate their 100 days of being at school. This is a significant achievement for our Foundation students who have done an amazing job settling into school life. A special reflection of their day will be shared at this week’s assembly.
School Disco – Friday 1st Spetmeber
The Fundraising Committee have organised an exciting disco night for all the students to participate in should they wish to attend. The disco will be split into a Junior (F-2) disco from 4.30-6pm and a Middle/Senior Disco from 6.30 – 8pm. Please see the flyer below for more details. All money raised will go towards the redevelopment of the area outside the art room. A huge thank you to one of our supportive parents Francisco (Mason’s Dad in 5C) for his willingness to give up his time to DJ the event - "Beats by Francisco"
Interschool Sport
Over the past two weeks our Year 6 students have participated in their Inter-school Sports. The students enjoyed playing football, netball or Newcombe. The students represented Trinity with pride and should be very proud of the sportsmanship they displayed. This week they will head over to St John’s in Koo-wee-rup. A big thank you to the parents that have come along each week to support the students.
Father’s Day Events
This year we will be holding our Father’s Day stall, raffle and breakfast once again. The Father’s Day stall will be held on Tuesday 29th August. Parents will be able to pay for the gifts through CDF Pay and then the children will select their gifts on the day. This will be activated on next week. We will also be holding our breakfast over two mornings. Families with surnames A-K will be invited to attend the breakfast on Wednesday 30 August and surnames L-Z on Friday 1st September. More information will be sent home later this week.
Season for Growth
Seasons for Growth is an innovative, evidence-based change, loss and grief education program that draws on the metaphor of the seasons to understand the experience of grief. It builds the knowledge and skills necessary to strengthen social and emotional wellbeing following significant loss by:
- Exploring the impact of change and loss
- Learning about effective ways to respond and adapt
We will be running our Seasons For Growth Programs for students aged between 6-12 years towards the end of this term and the beginning of Term 4. It is recommended for greatest effectiveness, that students participate in Seasons 6-12 months or more after the experience of loss. If you believe that your child will benefit from this program, please contact your child’s teacher detailing why you believe your child will benefit from the program. More information regarding this program can be found on the MacKillop Institute Website.

Religious Education Term 3, Week 4
Dear Families,
Mary Mackillop Feast Day
Each year on the 8th of August we celebrate the Solemnity of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia's beloved first saint. On this day, we celebrate the important role she played in making education accessible for children in our country. St Mary MacKillop's impact on Australian education was remarkable. She was a trailblazer and a leader who passionately advocated for the education of underprivileged children and children in remote areas where others either would not or could not go. For such children and their families, Mary opened a door of hope into the future. At Trinity we will be engaging in classroom liturgies and learning more about the remarkable life of St Mary Mackillop.
Sunday Children’s Liturgy
We warmly invite families to bring their children aged 5-12 to Children’s Liturgy at the 11am Sunday mass. Jesus tells us “Let the little children come to me’ (Matthew 19:14), through this ministry we hope to engage children in the Word of God in a child friendly way. Miss Rogers and Mr Dannaoui will be part of the roster as well as other friendly volunteers from Our Lady of Help Christians Parish. It has been great to see a few familiar faces from Trinity at the sessions! Please contact the parish office or myself for further information.
Confirmation Workshops
A reminder to families whose child is preparing for their Confirmation that the parent and child Confirmation Workshops are next week on the following dates and times;
- Wednesday 9th at 5pm and 7pm
- Thursday 10th at 5pm and 7pm
Remember that attendance at one of these workshops is mandatory. Please come along for a night of preparation and fun!
Kind regards,
Emily Rogers

Trinity Car Park Etiquette
- For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
- Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOT a meeting area.
- The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
- The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDING zones. If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
- There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park. All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
- THE GATES CLOSE AT 8.50am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close for the day at 3:30pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
- The Staff Car Park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY. Please do not use it as a drop off/pick up for students.
Thank you for your patience and consideration of others
