From the Principal - Term 4, Week 2
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Term Four! I hope all families enjoyed a restful break and are feeling energised for what is always a busy period as we head towards the end of the year.
Last week our intensive swimming program began for students in Years 2 and 4. The students have completed 6 of their 8 sessions and are to be commended on their excellent behaviour, their beautiful manners, their enthusiasm, and their willingness to give new challenges ago. The swimming program is an important part of the school’s sports curriculum and a valuable opportunity for skills to be reinforced and water safety addressed. Our Year 6 students will swim in November and our Foundation and Year 1 students will complete a water safety session at the pool in December. Next week students in Years 3 and 5 will participate in a Life Saving Victoria incursion which focuses on the important theory aspects of water safety. Thank you to Mrs Cahill and Mrs Woolf for their organisation of the program and to the staff and parents for the support of the program.
Term 4 also begins the planning and preparation phase for 2024. The teaching staff are in the process of creating the 2024 class lists and your children have had the opportunity to select a number of children that the believe they work well with. A lot of time and effort goes into creating a new class and we aim to provide every child with at least one person on their list. Sometimes this is not possible if parents have put in a formal request, accompanied by a genuine reason. The teachers are best placed to know who your child works best with and what possible scenarios will work best for a cohort of students. Whilst the idea of finding out their 2024 class is exciting; it also naturally comes with some anxiety. Who will be my teacher/s and who will be in my class. As parents how we respond and prepare our children for these changes can determine if its smooth sailing or rocky. Our own anxieties can often interfere with this process, so I invite you to begin these conversations in the coming weeks and always make sure they a positive. Life is not always fair, and we don’t always get what we want. Knowing how to cope when this happens is important. The teachers will also focus on this later this term when they begin the transition process.
Grandparents / Special Friends Day
On Friday, the 10th of November, we will celebrate our Grandparents / Special Friends Day. This is a highlight of the school calendar, and we look forward to seeing as many grandparents / friends attend as possible. Full details of the day will be sent home to families shortly.

Congratulations to our wonderful robotics teams who performed exceptionally well at the Nationals at MSAC over the weekend. Every student competing is to be commended on their commitment, enthusiasm and support for each other throughout the 3-day competition. They certainly did Trinity proud. Seasons for Growth
Seasons for Growth is an innovative, evidence-based change, loss and grief education program that draws on the metaphor of the seasons to understand the experience of grief. It builds the knowledge and skills necessary to strengthen social and emotional wellbeing following significant loss by:
- Exploring the impact of change and loss
- Learning about effective ways to respond and adapt
We will be running our Seasons For Growth Programs for students aged between 6-12 years this term. It is recommended for greatest effectiveness, that students participate in Seasons 6-12 months or more after the experience of loss. If you believe that your child will benefit from this program, please contact your child’s teacher detailing why you believe your child will benefit from the program by this Friday.
More information regarding this program can be found on the MacKillop Institute Website.

Staffing Updates
Mrs Shelton will be on Long Service Leave from the 23 October until the 20 November. During her absence, Miss Rogers, Miss Lamb, Mrs Burke and Mr Watty will be available should you need to speak to someone on their rostered day out of the classroom. I encourage families to always speak to the class teacher first as they are best placed to provide you with information regarding yours child’s progress. Parents are also welcome to make an appointment through the school office with myself.
This term we warmly welcome Mrs Michelle Tweedale and Mrs Desiree Ostroff as part time Education Support Officers onto the Trinity Staff. Both Michelle and Desiree will be covering Mrs Machado who is currently on parental leave. I know that they will be made to feel very welcome.

Day For Daniel
On Friday 27 October, Trinity will be helping to raise awareness of child safety, protection and harm.
Day for Daniel is about educating children through child safety and protection initiatives and helping empower children to ‘Recognise, React and Report’ if they feel something is not right.
The objectives of Day for Daniel are:
- To raise awareness about child safety and protection while promoting a safe community for children.
- To educate children regarding their personal safety and empower them to ‘Recognise, React and Report’.
- To honour the memory of Daniel Morcombe.
- To raise funds to produce and distribute free educational resources.
As part of this day, our students are asked bring a gold coin donation to support the foundation.
Day for Daniel is the Daniel Morcombe Foundation’s biggest fundraiser each year. Our school's support through fundraising will help them to continue developing free resources and programs for parents, carers, and educators to teach children how to stay safe.
We look forward to sharing a day together which focuses on keeping everyone safe.
Religious Education - Term 4, Week 2
Dear Families,
Parent Prayer Group
We warmly invite parents and families to attend our Parent Prayer Group beginning Wednesday 18th October. In the busyness of our lives it can be a real challenge to take time to be present, to take time for prayer, faith and meditation. Let us take an opportunity to make a small change, a step towards prayerfulness, making space for God in our lives.
We will be alternating venues for the Parent Prayer Group between Trinity Catholic Primary School chapel, Mary MacKillop Primary School chapel and Don Bosco Primary School Library. We encourage parents to visit the different schools to get to know our wider Parish school community and engage in moments of prayer together. Below is the planned roster of dates and locations for Term 4. The facilitation of the sessions will be shared among the clergy from the Parish, Fr Brendan, Fr Ajin, and the Schools RELs - Emily, Tahlia & Lize.
The chapel will be open from 9am for all those interested in attending with sign in sheets available. Trinity's Chapel and Don Bosco's Library will be open from 8:50am. We are looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Altar Server Workshop
Next week the students who have received their First Communion are invited to become an Altar Server for the Trinity level masses. Fr Brendan will join the students in the Trinity Chapel on Tuesday 17th at 2:15pm to train students in this important ministry. It’s a wonderful opportunity to engage in the mass and be a role model for other students.
Level Five - We Can Make a Difference
This week the level five students celebrated the success of their Starlight Foundation Fundraiser as a part of our Term 3 ‘We Can Make a Difference’ Religion Inquiry. The students explained that they wanted to raise awareness for sick children, but also be a part of making a difference in their world to grant one of their wishes. The students and their families raised an incredible $1227 for these sick children and their families.
What’s In a Name?
As we begin Term 4 we also begin our new focus on Triune God with the inquiry question; ‘What’s in a Name?’ We have begun to explore this question and make some personal connections to the topic. Here are our foundation students exploring some things they know about their names!
Kind regards,
Emily Rogers
National RobCup Competition
Over the weekend, 12 year five and year six students took part in the National RoboCup Competition at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre in Albert Park. Our four teams were competing in a group of 41 times vying to be national champions.
Across two and a half days, our students (Aaliyah A. Aariel, Miranda, Aaliyah S., Anaya, Simon, AJ, Joel, Kiaan, Annelle, Jasmin and Lauren) have been collaborating with their teams to solve a variety of programming challenges using our Lego Mindstorm robots. Overall, our teams placed 4th, 7th, 9th and 15th. A stunning effort by all, not just over the weekend, but in the 3 school terms of preparation.
From the bottom of my heart, we thank our RoboCup parents for being so supportive. This program would not have been possible with their support and dedication across the three competitions.
A special thanks to Mrs. Darwish for her support as a volunteer. This allowed me to support our students throughout the weekend. Also, thanks to Kathryn Pepper for her support throughout our journey from the regional competition back in July all the way to Nationals on the weekend. Her support has made running the program with our students a lot smoother for all of us.
So what's next? You'll have to wait until 2024 to find out more. Stay tuned.
Mr. Dannaoui
