2023 Term 4 Week 6
From the Principal - Term 4, Week 6
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing long weekend with your friends and family.
This Friday we will celebrate our traditional Grandparents/Special Friends Day at Trinity.
This is a very special day in the school calendar where we give thanks to the wonderful people in the lives of our students that continue to love, nurture and guide them.
The day will begin at 9am with a special liturgy in the school hall, followed by time in the classroom, and a morning tea at 10.30am. The hall will open from 8.30am for guests to arrive and parking is available on the basketball courts and out on the road. We look forward to celebrating this special day with the wider community.
Thank you to Miss Rogers for her organisation of the liturgy and all the staff for their preparation for the day.
Parish News
Last week we received the news that Fr Brendan will be moving and will take up the position of Parish Priest at Warragul/Drouin/Neerim South from January 2024. Fr Brendan has been the Parish Priest of Our Lady Help of Christians for the past 12 years and during this time he has touched the lives of many people. Fr Brendan has played an important role in supporting the staff, students, and families here at Trinity and he will be dearly missed. We will farewell Fr Brendan in December (Date TBC). Fr Michael Willemsen will replace Fr Brendan, and I know that he will be made to feel extremely welcome by the parish and school community.
2025 Foundation (Prep) Enrolments
We have now begun the process of enrolling 2025 Foundation students. If you have a child coming in 2025, or know of someone else who does, please contact the Office for an application form or you can download one from the school website.
Donations Needed
Next year we will be holding our School Carnival on Sunday 17th March 2024. The Fundraising team are busy planning the event and are looking for possible donations that can be used for either the major raffle, prizes for the spinning wheel or small novelty prizes/lollies/chocolates for the carnival games. If you, or someone you know, is in a position to kindly donate either goods or services to the school for this event, we would be extremely appreciative. In return we would be more than happy to promote your business through our school newsletter during Term 1 and a carnival flyer. All money raised on the day will go directly to the development of our school grounds. Please contact the office if you are interested in supporting the school carnival in this way.
Year 5 Performing Arts Showcase at Assembly
Tomorrow our Year 5 students will host assembly and they will showcase what they have been learning during Performing Arts this semester. This assembly will begin promptly at 2.30pm as the showcase will last around 30mins. There will be no awards at this assembly, only birthdays.
Remembrance Day – 11th November
Remembrance Day poppies, key rings and bracelets can be purchased through the school office.
2024 Foundation Orientation Day
Next Tuesday we will warmly welcome our 2024 Foundation students for their first orientation session. This is an exciting (and nervous) time for the students as they begin to prepare for their first day of school. I know that our current students will do their best to make them feel at ease.
The Foundation teachers for 2024 are Miss Shannon Crispe, Miss Chelsie Noy and Ms Amy Gullifer/Mrs Louise Vellin. The teachers are very excited to meet the new students.
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
This year we will once again partner up with St Vincent de Paul to create Christmas hampers for those in our community experiencing financial and emotional hardship. This is a great opportunity to give back to the community and to reflect on just how lucky many of us are. The Social Justice Leaders have placed a tree in the atrium where non-perishable Christmas food items can be placed for the hamper, as well as small toys (new) that can be given as gifts. If you are able to donate to this worthy cause, your support would be greatly appreciated.
Year 6 Camp
On Monday 20 November our Year 6 students will be heading off on their City Camp. This is a three-day camp which will involve staying at CYC City Camp in Melbourne and visiting places such as Parliament House, The Old Melbourne Goal, Eureka Sky Deck and the MCG, just to name a few. This will be an excellent opportunity for the students to consolidate some of their learning this year as well as spending quality time with their peers before they graduate on the 14December. The staff attending the camp are Mrs Burke, Mrs Parker, Miss Scarton, Mrs Albert, Mr Dannaoui, Mr Watty, Mrs Kays, Mrs Quick and myself. I thank the staff for giving up their time to support our students on their camp experience.
Year 5 and 6 Parish Sports
On Friday 17 November our Year 5 and 6 students will be participating in the Our Lady Help of Christians Parish Cup at Mary Mackillop Primary School. This is the first time this event has been held and will become a traditional event each year between the three parish schools. It is a great opportunity for the students of the three schools to come together to pray and engage in sport. Thank you to all the staff involved in planning this exciting event.

Religious Education - Term 4, Week 6
Dear Families,
Parish News
As Mrs Pepper mentioned in her Principal news, Fr Brendan will be moving and will take up the position of Parish Priest at Warragul/Drouin/Neerim South from January 2024. For many of us Fr Brendan has been a source of wisdom and patience, supporting our students and families in times of celebration and in times of need. As most of us know, it is more common for God to send his graces through people around us then through the phenomenal. We express our gratitude for the blessing that Fr Brendan has been in our lives, and for the graces he has given us in his time at OLHC parish.
Parent Prayer Group
The Parent Prayer Group has been in full swing across our parish schools over the last couple of weeks! It has been great to see parents in our community coming together to join in meaningful prayer. Last week we shared prayers for our own children, and reflected upon the community it takes to raise a child. The roster below details the upcoming locations for our Parent Prayer group.
At Trinity, Fr Brendan will be joining the parents on 29th of November to lead us in centering prayer.
St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal
This year we will once again partner up with St Vincent de Paul to create Christmas hampers for those in our community experiencing financial and emotional hardship. Our Social Justice Leaders have put up a Christmas Tree in the atrium where students and families can place their donations.
What's In a Name? Inquiry
Our students are busy exploring the What’s in a Name? Inquiry question in their Religion lessons. It’s wonderful to see the students creating wondering walls to display their learning. Take a look at what they have been up to so far!
Prayerful Spaces
This term students and staff have been reflecting on how we can create prayerful spaces and prayerful moments. Each morning we begin our day with morning prayer, allowing the students to take ownership in creating a space on the prayer table, selecting songs and allowing time for prayers of the faithful. We have even has some students visit the chapel to engage in contemplative prayer as a class.

SchoolTV- Positive Parenting
Despite the best efforts of parents around the world, the reality is, there is no such thing as the ‘perfect parent’. However, arming yourself with the right information is a good start!
Research shows, that one of the most important protective factors in the lives of young people, is a close relationship with a supportive adult. With the mental health of today’s young people being at an all-time low, it is simply not enough to parent effectively. Parents need to familiarise themselves with practical skills, knowledge and strategies when it comes to raising children.
Many parents today are over-protective, resulting in children being less independent, unable to problem-solve or self-regulate. Parents are failing to set clear boundaries, which is unfortunately making kids feeling less secure. There is too much pressure on kids today. Parents fill their days with too many activities in an effort to avoid their child’s boredom.
In this edition of SchoolTV, parents will learn what is the best approach for primary and secondary school aged children.
We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this edition of SchoolTV and we always welcome your feedback. If you have any concerns about your child, please contact the school for further information or seek medical or professional help.

Trinity Car Park Etiquette
- For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
- Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOT a meeting area.
- The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
- The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDING zones. If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
- There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park. All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
- THE GATES CLOSE AT 8.50am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close for the day at 3:30pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
- The Staff Car Park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY. Please do not use it as a drop off/pick up for students.
Thank you for your patience and consideration of others
