From the Principal - Term 2, Week 1
Welcome to Term Two!
We hope that you had a relaxing Easter break with your children and are ready for another busy term ahead.
Yesterday the staff at Trinity engaged in a Professional Learning Day with staff from St Catherines, St Patricks and Mary Mackillop Catholic Primary Schools. The day focused on Inclusive Education and covered varying topics. The keynote speaker was Aspasia Stacey Rabba who is an educational and developmental psychologist and lecturer at Monash University and Monash Health. Aspasia spoke on the importance of supporting schools to improve engagement and learning for neurodivergent students by strengthening partnerships and implementing effective evidence-based strategies. This presentation inspired staff to embed sustainable, inclusive practices in their schools.
The staff also participated in workshops throughout the day in that focused on the following areas:
- Childhood Trauma.
- Understanding our own responses in support of challenging behaviour
- Understanding how to support children with ADHD and Pathological Avoidance presentations.
- Neurodiversity in the classroom.
- Understanding sensory processing in the classroom and how Occupational Therapy can assist.
- Communication in the Classroom
- Understanding Learning Disorders
- Childhood Mental Health
- Supporting Students with Developmental Language Disorder and Dyslexia in the Classroom.
The day was highly successful and provided rich learning opportunities for all staff in a safe and collaborative environment. Thank you to all our wonderful workshop presenters, Sarah Fiddes (DOSCEL), Jane Henderson (Versa Learn), Maddy Tynan (Private Speech), Julie Wordsworth, Dr Martina Waring, Dr Amanda Scicluna, Jade Houston, Bethany Chatfield and Vicki Cooper (Futures in Mind). We are blessed to have such strong community partnerships supporting our staff and students.
Later this term we will have Professional Development opportunities in the areas of Wellbeing and Child Mental Health and Targeted Curriculum – ensuring all students are taught at their point of need (intervention/extension).
School Carnival
Last term we held an extremely successful school carnival. Not only was this an amazing community event that united the families of the school, the staff, parish, and wider community, but it raised an impressive $19,100. We look forward to being able to utilise this money for our new playground and sensory garden. Thanks again to our wonderful Carnival Committee, all our sponsors and to the community for supporting the event.
2025 Foundation (Prep) Enrolments
We have now begun the process of enrolling 2025 Foundation students. If you have a child coming in 2025, or know of someone else who does, please contact the office for further details. Enrolment forms can be downloaded from the Trinity School Website.
Mother’s Day Breakfast
This year our Mother’s Day Breakfasts will be held on the following days:
Wednesday 8th May Families with surnames A-K
Friday 10th May Families with surnames L-Z
A letter was sent home today about the breakfast.
Mother’s Day Stall – Tuesday 7th May
On Tuesday 7th we will hold our Mother’s Day Stall. If you would like your child to purchase a gift from the stall, pre-payment is required through CDF Pay and can be accessed now. If you are available to assist with the stall, your support would be greatly appreciated. Please contact the office with your details. The stall will run from 9am until all the classes have finished.
School Advisory Board
The School Advisory Board meets five times a year to discuss and review events, polices and practices within the school. This year we are seeking the support of a parish representative. If you are a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians Parish and are interested in being part of the School Advisory Board, please send through your expression of interest to principal@trinitynarre.catholic.edu.au. Your role would be to liaise with the parish and feed back to the board the events and opportunities within the parish. Expressions of interest will close on Wednesday 24th April.
School Uniform
Term 2 and 3 requires the students to wear their winter uniform. Boys may wear either blue pants or shorts and the yellow long/short sleeve school t-shirt with navy socks and black shoes. Girls may wear the same as the boys or the yellow t-shirt and school winter dress with navy stocking or socks. Sports socks and coloured runners/sport shoes are only to be worn on your child’s sports days. Earrings must also be a stud or sleeper. We have noticed some fashion earrings being worn to school. This is not part of the uniform code and is not safe either. I am seeking the support of all parents to help us ensure the correct uniform is worn with pride.

Family Prayer
This term we are beginning our Family Prayer. Each class will be rostered on once per term to gather with their families for prayer in our Trinity Chapel. We warmly invite families to attend, coming together to build our faith community and Catholic Identity at Trinity.

Reconciliation Celebrations
Congratulations to all the Trinity students who have completed the Sacrament of Reconciliation over the last few weeks. As you continue on your journey of faith, may the grace of God accompany you, offering strength and guidance in every step you take. Remember that through reconciliation, you've not only embraced forgiveness but also a deeper connection with your faith community and with God.

Visual Art-Term 2,Week 1
Grade Four Gallery Art
The Grade Four students artwork (from when they were in Grade Three at the end of the year) has been chosen to be displayed at the Zart Art Gallery in Box Hill for the whole of Term Two, this artwork in based on the abstract artist Carmen Herrera. It is a great opportunity for our students to experience having their works displayed to the public. The details will be in the next newsletter
Physical Education - term 2, week 1
TRINITY ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Last term on Friday 22nd March, all of the students participated in the Trinity Athletics Carnival at the newly resurfaced track at the Casey Fields Regional Athletics Centre. The students competed in a variety of track and field events and are to be commended for their positive participation whilst upholding our whole school expectations - resilience, responsible, respectful and safe. We sincerely thank all of our wonderful volunteers who supported the students and assisted in a variety of events. Thank you also to the Trinity staff for guiding and encouraging the students. Congratulations to our amazing sport leaders for your outstanding sportsmanhip and for supporting the students.
The overall results were the closest they have ever been.
1st place - BLUE HOUSE (Sport Leaders - Cohen and Aaliyah S) - 1062 points
2nd place - GREEN HOUSE (Sport Leaders - Ethan F and Eve) - 985 points
3rd place - RED HOUSE (Sport Leaders - Aariel and Josh St) - 959 points
4th place - GOLD HOUSE (Sport Leaders - Chanel and Lucas K) - 911 points
TRINITY CROSS COUNTRY DAY - FRIDAY 26TH APRIL
On Friday 26th April, the students will be participating in our Trinity Cross Country Day on our school grounds. All students are to wear their sports uniform and sneakers. The grounds may be wet, so please ensure that your child/children bring a spare pair of socks/shoes.
Assistance required: We require volunteers for each of the Year 3-6 races to help with marshalling at designated points throughout the running courses. All volunteers must have completed either the Parent Helper Workshop/submitted their Parent Helper Workshop Induction Video answers to the office, signed the Child Safety Standards document and provided a copy of their valid WWCC.
If you are able to assist with any of these races (even for one race) and have completed the parent helper workshop, please provide your full name, working with children check number and expiry date to the following email dianna.woolf@trinitynarre.catholic.edu.au.

Important note: Some students will be running with a different year level, depending on their age to meet in line with School Sport Victoria’s (SSV) standards and rules.

- students in year 5 who were born in 2014 will run with year 4’s
- students in year 6 who were born in 2013 will run with Year 5’s
Parking: The students will be running on the top carpark, so there will be no access for cars to park. Please park outside the school.

AWARDS & BIRTHDAYS
CHILD SAFE STANDARDS WORKING WITH CHILDREN
Trinity has zero tolerance towards child abuse and is therefore committed to complying with the Ministerial Order No. 1359 – Implementing the Child Safe Standards – Managing the Risk of Child Abuse in Schools and School Boarding Premises. All parents/guardians wishing to help in the classroom, canteen or attend excursions MUST have completed the PARENT HELPER WORKSHOP and hold a current WORKING WITH CHILDREN CARD.
Further details are available from the school office or the Justice Department website. All parent/guardian helpers must sign in at the office before proceeding to the classrooms. Your current Working with Children card must be displayed at all times when working in the classrooms and attending excursions.
A reminder to all Parents/Carers, supervision by School Staff begins at 8.30am before school and after school only at the drop off area until 3.30pm.
Trinity Car Park Etiquette
- For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
- Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOT a meeting area.
- The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
- The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDING zones. If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
- There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park. All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
- THE GATES CLOSE AT 8.50am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close for the day at 3:30pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
- The Staff Car Park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY. Please do not use it as a drop off/pick up for students.
