2024 Term 3 Week 4
From the Principal
Over the last few weeks, I have been enjoying watching the Olympics and seeing the comradery, sportsperson-ship and national pride that the athletes are exhibiting. One of the most outstanding dispositions that these elite sports people show is resilience. We know how important resilience is at all stages and phases of life and this is why it is one of our Whole School Expectations.
For our children, adopting positive behaviours such as resilience can help them cope with stress, to self-regulate and to have hope in the future. As a check-in, take some time to ask your children what they know about resilience and why it is important. You could even use one of their favourite athletes to discuss how they have been resilient.
To support this from a parents’ perspective, we are organising a parent night with Dr Billy Garvey titled, Building Resilient Kids. We are still in the process of finalising the date but look forward to sharing a night in support of our families soon.
Yesterday, the Foundation students celebrated a huge milestone when they marked the fact that they have been at school for 100 days. It was lovely to see them dressed in their outfits and celebrating all they have learnt and grown since starting school. I hope that their parents had a chance to reflect upon how far the children have come and felt a sense of pride in all they have achieved! Thank you to the Foundation teachers for creating such a festive atmosphere for our youngest students. Some quotes about what they have learnt in their 100 days of school:
“I have learnt to do Maths with dice.” “I have learnt to write in my 100 days of school. It’s the best.” “I have learnt to count backwards at school!”
Staffing Updates
At the end of this term, Mrs Nicosia will be commencing her Maternity Leave. In term 4, we are pleased to announce that her class will be being taught by Mrs Sarah Wedlock for three days a week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and by Mrs Brooke Farrelly (Thursday and Friday).
I am also pleased to inform you that Mrs Danielle Davis will be continuing to work in Grade 3C on Fridays until the end of the year.
Finally, I would like to announce that Mrs Taryn Mumford has accepted a new position at St Josephine Bakhita's School in Clyde North, in an administration role. I congratulate Taryn on this opportunity, thank her for all her work throughout her time at Trinity and wish her well. Although we shall miss her presence, and all she does for our students, we know that she will be a wonderful asset to the new community. Taryn’s last day is yet to be finalised.

Religious Education - Week 4, Term 3
Dear Families,
The Ark Centre
This week our Grade Six students visited The Ark Centre to learn more about Jewish Orthodox faith. This session, assisted by Together for Humanity, aims to combat prejudice and advance belonging and inclusion in our community through education. This experience also provided students with an in depth context to their current novel study; 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.' Below are some of our Grade Six student's reflections on what they learnt, and what they are still wondering.
Exploring Scripture
In Grade Five, students have been exploring scripture with a focus upon Catholic Social Teaching. Students reflected on the message of The Widow's Offering (Mark 12:41-44) for us today as people of fatih.
Kind regards,
Emily Rogers
Religious Education Leader
Visual Art-Term 3, Week 4
Our Grade Five students have created these amazing Dragon eyes. They are displayed in the atrium if you would like to come and have a closer look
The Grade One students have learnt about Venus Fly traps and created their own artistic version.
Seesaw - Term 3, Week 4
As part of our learning journey at Trinity, we regularly share student learning through Seesaw. We encourage families to visit their child’s Seesaw page to see the wonderful learning the students are engaging with. If you need any help accessing Seesaw, please speak with your child’s class teacher.

MHiPS: Co-regulation, Term 3 Week 4
Recently, we had the highly regarded Dr Billy Garvey speak to staff about raising resilient children. During the session, one of the key areas he talked about was co-regulation and why it is important to the development of our children.
So what is co-regulation? It is not about temporarily calming a child down, but it’s the process through which a child develops the ability to self-regulate emotions in the long term. A critical factor in this process is the presence of a reliable caregiver. The caregiver acts as a ‘second brain’ — an extra calming centre that brings in support for the child with their own state of nervous system regulation. Co-regulation starts with regulating your own feelings first and then approaching your child in a calm and understanding manner. This article shares great insights to effective co-regulation strategies for children of all ages.
Dr Garvey has a wonderful podcast called Pop Culture Parenting and a new book “Ten things I wish you knew about your child’s mental health”. Both are great resources to help us to show up best for our beautiful children.

SAFE AROUND SCHOOLS
Trinity Car Park Etiquette
- For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
- Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOT a meeting area.
- The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
- The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDING zones. If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
- There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park. All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
- THE GATES CLOSE AT 8.50am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close for the day at 3:30pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
- The Staff Car Park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY. Please do not use it as a drop off/pick up for students.
Thank you for your patience and consideration of others
