SAFE AROUND Trinity Catholic Primary
From the Principal
As we celebrate World Teachers' Day this Friday, I would like to take the opportunity to thank and celebrate the incredible teachers, leaders, support, administration and canteen staff who inspire, challenge, and nurture our students. We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated team who go above and beyond to make sure that our students feel safe, known and cared for at Trinity.
In today's rapidly changing world, all involved in schools play a vital role in preparing students for the challenges they will face. They not only equip students with academic skills but also teach important life lessons and encouraging dispositions such as perseverance, empathy, kindness and responsibility.
Let us take this opportunity to express our gratitude!

Religious Education - Term 4, Week 3
Dear Families,
Trinity Online Rosary
Pope Francis has dedicated 2024 as the Year of Prayer, in anticipation of the Jubilee Year of 2025. To celebrate the Year of Prayer, I would like to invite all families from Trinity Catholic Primary School to pray the Rosary together with your Parish family on the 30th of October 2024 from 7pm to 7:30pm.
The Parish Rosary is prayed every Wednesday night online via Zoom and you are invited to join in from the comfort of your own homes. My hope is that this will encourage many of our school families to pray together in the month of the Rosary in a way that could lead to regular family prayer, which always bears much fruit in those relationships.
If anyone participating has a particular intention that they would like to be prayed for, please feel free to put them in the chat room once logged in.
The ZOOM link will be sent via PAM to all Trinity families to ensure privacy.
Thank-you for considering this request.
Fr Michael
Grandparents & Special Friends Day
On Friday 1st November our Trinity community will celebrate Grandparents & Special Friends Day. This is a highlight of the school calendar, and we look forward to seeing as many grandparents / friends attend as possible. A letter was sent home with families last week about the morning and with an RSVP section for catering purposes. If you could please return the slip to the office, it would be greatly appreciated.
Month of the Rosary
As 2024 is the Year of Prayer, and October is the Month of the Rosary, the year 3 students have been learning about the Mysteries of the Rosary and praying together. We made our own Rosary bracelets for ourselves and our families and came together to pray the Rosary together.
Robocup Wrap-up 2024
Over the last three terms, students from grades 5 & 6 have been training for and competing in regional, state and national Robocup competitions. They have worked diligently to build, code and debug their Lego robot to solve a variety of challenges. At the regional competition in Clyde North, Trinity Champions and Trinity Tech Aliyah came first and second, respectively in the Riley Rover Division. Trinity Rise of the Warriors came second in the Primary Division.
At the state competition, Trinity Buddies and Trinity Tech Aliyah cand second and third place, respectively.
Trinity Tech Aliyah, Trinity Champions, and Trinity Buddies all flew to Queensland last weekend to compete in the Robocup National Competition at the University of Queensland. Over the course of two days of competition, our students flew our Trinity colours proudly. Even though none of the teams placed in the finals, our students were thrilled at what they had achieved and very grateful for the opportunity.
As a school, we are humbled and inspired to work with such passionate and dedicated students. The robotics program will continue in 2025 to hopefully inspire a new generation of thinkers and problem-solvers. The future is bright at Trinity.

Day for Daniel
On Friday, October 25th, we will recognise the 20th Day for Daniel, Australia’s largest child safety education and awareness initiative. On this day, we encourage students to wear red in support of child safety.
Day for Daniel honours the memory of Daniel Morcombe and promotes vital conversations surrounding child safety. Established in Daniel's legacy, the foundation aims to protect children across Australia by raising awareness and providing valuable resources. More information about Day for Daniel can be found here.
On October 25th, our junior and middle school students will participate in age-appropriate presentations led by police officers. These sessions will focus on identifying safe and unsafe situations (both in person and online), how to respond appropriately, accessing emergency services, and understanding the police’s role in community safety.
Our senior students will engage in the ThinkUKnow program, a longstanding initiative run by the Australian Federal Police. This program will facilitate meaningful discussions around online safety tailored to their age group. More information is available here.
Additionally, we will hold a Walk for Daniel. Since 2004, the Daniel Morcombe Foundation has organised this event to commemorate the walk Daniel was unable to complete. While our walk will not cover the full 4km, it serves to honour Daniel's memory and emphasise the importance of child safety.
To support our efforts, ThinkUKnow Australia features a mascot, Ellie the Echidna, who appears in various resources to convey essential safety messages about online practices to primary school-aged children. Ellie is also a part of the ACT Policing Constable Kenny Koala program, aimed at educating young children aged three to twelve on various safety themes while positively promoting the role of police.
For families with children under five, the Australian Federal Police, in partnership with the Alannah and Madeline Foundation and the eSafety Commissioner, has developed the early childhood education program, Playing IT Safe. This evidence-based program offers guidance for parents, caregivers, and early childhood educators on teaching young children about technology and the internet. For more resources and information, please visit www.playingitsafe.org.au.
Thank you for your support in making Day for Daniel a meaningful occasion.

CHILD SAFE STANDARDS WORKING WITH CHILDREN
Trinity has zero tolerance towards child abuse and is therefore committed to complying with the Ministerial Order No. 1359 – Implementing the Child Safe Standards – Managing the Risk of Child Abuse in Schools and School Boarding Premises. All parents/guardians wishing to help in the classroom, canteen or attend excursions MUST have completed the PARENT HELPER WORKSHOP and hold a current WORKING WITH CHILDREN CARD.
Further details are available from the school office or the Justice Department website. All parent/guardian helpers must sign in at the office before proceeding to the classrooms. Your current Working with Children card must be displayed at all times when working in the classrooms and attending excursions.
A reminder to all Parents/Carers, supervision by School Staff begins at 8.30am before school and after school only at the drop off area until 3.30pm.
Trinity Car Park Etiquette
- For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
- Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOT a meeting area.
- The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
- The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDING zones. If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
- There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park. All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
- THE GATES CLOSE AT 8.50am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close for the day at 3:30pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
- The Staff Car Park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY. Please do not use it as a drop off/pick up for students.
Thank you for your patience and consideration of others
