2025 Term 1 Week 7
From the Principal
Last Friday the Trinity staff had the opportunity to attend professional learning sessions which focused on Interreligious Dialogue. This was held in conjunction with the staff from our Parish schools, Mary MacKillop and Don Bosco.
Throughout the day we heard from a number of guest speakers, each of whom brought insight and perspectives from various faith traditions. These included Mark Walsh the Director of Formation and Mission for the Sisters of Our Lady of Sion, Rabbi Gabbi Kaltmann- Rabbi of the Ark Centre in Hawthorn, Peta Murray DOSCEL Inclusive Education (Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander) Education Officer and Paris Sard- Community Education Officer, the Interfaith Network.
Each of the speakers shared knowledge and explored the differences and the connectedness between the Catholic Tradition and other religions. Fundamental to the Catholic Tradition is respect for human dignity and the pursuit of peace. Friday’s professional learning was a great foundation in equipping our staff with the knowledge and tools to engage with religious diversity in ways that promote greater understanding across faith communities.
As a Catholic school, our mission is clear: to form students who are not only academically successful but also spiritually grounded and socially responsible. By embracing the call to dialogue and understanding, we help our students grow in their faith and become active contributors to a world that is more united in peace and respect for one another.
Little Learners Love Literacy at Home Workshop
Starting your child on the road to reading is very exciting! Reading at home is vital for the development of children’s literacy skills, especially vocabulary and comprehension. By making reading part of your daily routine, you can help your child build a strong foundation for academic success and a lifelong love of reading.
In school we use Little Learners Love Literacy which is an explicit and sequential literacy approach for teaching children to read, write and spell with confidence. To support the learning taking place at school, students are provided with decodable take-home readers to practise the letter-sound relationships that they have learnt so far.
On Thursday the 13th of March, we will be hosting information sessions for parents and carers of students in Foundation to Grade 2, with the aim of supporting you and your child with literacy at home.
Please come along in person on Thursday the 13th of March at 2:30 in the Multi-Purpose Room or online at 7:30pm. Here is the link: Literacy at Home Online Workshop
Sessions will only go for 45 minutes. We look forward to sharing the world of Little Learners Love Literacy with you!
Harmony Day Thursday 20th March
Next week, 17th - 23rd March is Harmony Week. Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
As part of Harmony Week, we will be celebrating Harmony Day on Thursday 20th of March. On this day, we are inviting our students to wear orange or something that represents their cultural heritage to school. At Trinity we are fortunate to have families from many different cultures and backgrounds to celebrate and learn from.
As part of this day, we will be having a special focus for our assembly.
Athletics Carnival
On the Friday 21st March we will be holding our annual school athletics carnival at Casey Fields. All families are welcome to come along and support their child/ren on the day. We still require a number of volunteers to help with the events, especially from families who have students in Grade 3-6.
If you can assist, please contact Mrs Woolf or Mrs Cahill.
NAPLAN
Year 3 and 5 students started the 2025 NAPLAN Assessments today. These assessments will be completed between the 12th of March and the 24th of March.
We use NAPLAN to provide us with feedback about how we can improve our teaching, whilst parents are provided with a snapshot of how their child is progressing. For the school, it is one assessment that makes up a thorough Assessment Schedule and should not present any stress for students, as they are well versed at completing online assessments. If you have any concerns about your child participating in NAPLAN, please speak to your child’s teacher.
Please see you child’s classroom teacher or email Mrs Cassandra Burke (cassandra.burke@trinitynarre.catholic.edu.au) if you require any more information during this period.
Grade 4 Camp
On Thursday 27th and Friday 28th of March, our Grade 4 students will be going on Camp to Oasis Camp Mount Evelyn. If you have any questions, please ask you child’s teacher.
School Colour Run- Monday 31st March
This year our we have once again teamed up with the Australian Fundraising Association to facilitate the Colour Fun Run.
We still have 20 days to go, so let’s try and beat last year’s total!
Families will be encouraged to sponsor their child to do the event (any monetary amount) and invite extended family members and friends to do the same should they wish. The company supplies all the colour powder, glasses and head bands for the students.
We have asked the Fire brigade to join us on the day. Fortunately, they have agreed to be present- as long as they are not called out.
Students will need to wear a white or light-coloured shirt and enclosed shoes for the event as they may be covered from head to toe in coloured powder!
Dr Billy Garvey Parent Session
On Monday the 3rd of March we had many parents attend the Dr Billy Garvey parent session. If you are interested in hearing more from Dr Billy Garvey and using some of his resources, you will find them through the website: Guiding Growing Minds.
Safety- Walking to and from School
If your child is walking to and from school, it is important to make sure that they have a good understanding as to how to do this safely and at an age-appropriate level. We have had reports from concerned families that some of our students need reminders and supervision on how to be safe whilst walking home.
The Transport Victoria website has some great guidelines about age-appropriate supervision and expectations for young people walking near roads. Transport Victoria
Parent Helper Online Workshop
At Trinity we value parent participation and support at special events and on excursions. For parents to volunteer it is a requirement that a Working with Children’s Check is valid and that the Trinity Parent Volunteer Induction is completed. This involves watching an online video that can be located on PAM under Parent Links. Once completed, please bring in your WWCC to the office and sign our Code of Conduct (if not already done). This is part of our commitment to Child Safety. Thank you.
Fundraising Committee- Change of Date
Each year the school has several events which raise valuable funds for our school. To support these events, we have a Fundraising Committee of parents who help to co-ordinate and organise aspects. Some of the planned activities for this year include the Colour Run, the Mother’s Day Stall and the Father’s Day stall. If you would like to a part of this group, we will be having a meeting on Tuesday 25th March at 8:45am in the Boardroom.
Seasons for Growth
We will be running our Seasons For Growth Programs for students aged between 6-12 years towards the start of next term. Seasons for Growth supports children and young people who have experienced change and loss, including, although not limited to friendship changes; family separation; loss or death of someone they care about; loss of a pet; relocation and forced migration; living away in out of home care; physical or mental illness; or impacts of war, terrorism or pandemics. We suggest that children and young people impacted by bereavement wait 6-12 months before participating in a Seasons for Growth program.
If you believe that your child will benefit from this program, please contact your child’s teacher detailing why you believe your child will benefit from the program.
More information regarding this program can be found on the MacKillop Institute Website.

Harmony Day 2025

Religious Education - Term 1, Week 7
Dear Families,
Foundation Ash Wednesday Experience
Last week, our Foundations students had the opportunity to experience their first Ash Wednesday service—a special milestone in their faith journey. They gathered in the reverent space of the Chapel, where they were warmly welcomed by Fr. Michael.
As they took in the peaceful surroundings, the students learned about the significance of Ash Wednesday and the symbolism of the ashes. With quiet reflection, they received the cross of ashes on their foreheads, embracing the themes of forgiveness and renewal.
The service was made even more memorable as the students joined together in song. It was a beautiful moment of faith, learning, and community—one that will surely stay with them as they continue their spiritual journey.

Exploring Pilgrims of Hope
Our Grade Six students have been exploring the Jubilee theme Pilgrims of Hope by learning about the Holy Door—a symbol of renewal and welcome in the Catholic faith. Reflecting on its meaning, they discussed how they, too, can “open doors” for others through kindness, inclusion, and hope.
Students shared ways to embody this spirit, by offering encouragement and support to those around them. One student reflected, "I can open my door by spreading the Word of God and always help others who have lost a love one or who are going through a hard time"
As they continue their journey of faith, may we all be inspired to open doors of love and hope in our community!

Kind regards,
Emily Rogers

Trinity Car Park Etiquette
- Please abide by the 5km/h limit the WHOLE TIME you are in the park area.
- For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays in our school car park.
- Thank you to all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOTa meeting area.
- The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
- The two parking bays closest to the office path are the only PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDINGzones. If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and either park or rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
- THE GATES CLOSEAT 8.50am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close for the day at 3:30pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
- The Staff Car Park is forSTAFF PARKING ONLY. Please do not use it as a drop off/pick up for students.
We really need commitment from families to NOT TURN RIGHT when exiting the car park. All vehicles must TURN LEFT for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
We also have families double parking along Oakgrove Drive and letting their children out. This is unsafe, prevents traffic flow and against road rules.
We have also been contacted by Casey Council, which patrols the area, about families performing U-turns on Oakgrove Drive. Their advice is as follows:
Ø U-turns are dangerous during the peak school times for pedestrians but also other drivers.
Ø They recommend NOT performing U-turns in this area. This is dangerous for children and pedestrians around a school precinct.
Ø They recommend driving further up to the roundabout on Oakgrove Drive, where you can turn around safely or exit away from the school.
If you have others picking up your children, such as Grandparents, can you please inform them of Trinity’s protocols or etiquette.
Thank you for taking the time to read this email and I look forward to your continued commitment to keep our students and families safe.
