Week 5 Term 4, 2022
From the Principal
Dear Parents,
I hope you all enjoyed a relaxing long weekend, despite the challenging weather. This Friday, the 4th of November, is our Grandparents Day. This is a highlight of the school calendar and we look forward to seeing as many Grandparents attend as possible. A reminder that your child is welcome to bring a special friend if their Grandparents cannot attend. The day will begin with a special liturgy in the School Hall at 9am, followed by time in the classrooms and morning tea (visitors only) from 10.30am back in the hall. The hall will be open from 8.30am for the visitors to sign in and make themselves comfortable. If you haven’t returned your RSVP, please do so by tomorrow for catering purposes.
2023 Foundation Orientation
It will be a pleasure to welcome into our school our 2023 Foundation students next Tuesday. We look forward to having them as permanent members of our school community next year.
Remembrance Day Service
The Trinity staff and students will honour our past and present service men and women in a special Remembrance Day service to be held next Friday 11th November at 11am in the School Hall. Families are most welcome to attend. Poppies can also be purchased through the School Office.
A Day for Daniel
Last Friday all Catholic schools in the Sale Diocese acknowledged “A Day for Daniel”. A Day for Daniel is a national day of action for child safety awareness and education. On the day the students and staff wore red and completed activities in their class around child safety. We were also privileged to have Rebecca (one of our parents), who spoke to all of the student who works for Victoria Police speak to the students about the importance of child safety and empowering our students to be able to 'Recognise, React and Report' if they feel something is not right or they don't feel safe. Thank you to Brooke Farrelly for her organisation of the day.
Cancer Awareness Fundraising Day – Wednesday 9th November
Next Wednesday 9th November we will be fundraising for ovarian cancer in support of Mrs Schinck who was diagnosed with cancer back in June after the cancer was found by accident after a major surgery. Mrs Schnick is doing as well as can be expected and has a great support team around her. She will start her 5th cycle of chemotherapy this Friday. Each cycle runs for three weeks and she has continued to come in and visit the students during her week off treatment. She is due to complete her final treatment in December and we pray that she will return to us in 2023. Next Wednesday we are inviting the staff and students to wear teal or blue in support of ovarian cancer in return for a gold coin or monetary donation which will be donated to the Walking Stars Cancer Fundraiser which Mrs Schinck’s family has invited Trinity staff to be a part of. On the day the students will also walk laps around the school to show their support to all those impacted by cancer.
Swimming
During Weeks 5 and 6, the students in Year 6 will attend an intensive swim program at Paul Saddler Pool. Parents are welcome to watch their child swim but are not permitted in the change rooms.
2024 Foundation (Prep) Enrolments
We have now begun the process of enrolling 2024 Foundation students. If you have a child coming in 2024, or know of someone else who does, please contact the Office for an enrolment form or it can be downloaded off the website. It is important that all existing families enrol their child by the end of November so we can guarantee your child a place.
Before and After School Supervision
We have noticed that many students are arriving before 8.25am in the morning and are still waiting to be collected after the 3.30pm bell. These times are unsupervised and it is the responsibility of each family to follow the rules outlined by the school around school starting and finish times. We understand that at times traffic and personal circumstances can impact on drop off and pick up times but the staff have their own commitments before and after school with planning, preparation and meetings and can not be expected to supervise students when there is not a valid reason. Families will be asked to book their children into care if it becomes an ongoing issue. Thank you for your cooperation and support with this matter.
School Advisory Board
The Annual General Meeting of the School Board will be held on Thursday 24th November. Nomination forms for new parent representative positions on the School Advisory Board can be made by emailing an expression of interest to principal@trinitynarre.catholic.edu.au by Friday 4th November.
The responsibilities of the School Advisory Board are to:
- promote the Catholic ethos of the school
- provide feedback on and review of school policies
- plan for the future of the school and its ability to accommodate future enrolments
- provide advice on budget planning and finance-related matters
- contribute to the selection process for the school principal (when the position is advertised)
- provide advice on the appropriate provision of faith development and Religious Education programs

Staffing Updates
In 2023 we will warmly welcome Miss Grace Viney (Classroom Teacher) and Miss Malisa Mitrea (Performing Arts) into the Trinity community. Both Grace and Malisa are graduate teachers and will bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the school. I know they will be made to feel very welcome.

Religious Education
Thankyou to all the families who contributed to our Socktober fundraiser.
It was wonderful to see so many people get involved by creating their own sock balls, or rubbish balls or plastic bag balls. What was beautiful to see was the joy in creating and making something from nothing. These days are about the experience and hopefully moments we can reflect on to learn for the future.
On behalf of Catholic Missions, we are very grateful to all families that contributed to create a tally of $1822. These projects really do work to create sustainable communities that are empowered through education and subsidiarity, to thrive into the future. A few students wrote a reflection about the day, have a read of it below!
This week, our focus moves to Grandparents' Day. The role of Grandparents is huge in the faith aspect of students lives, as many students will be at our school due to the faith influence of the Grandparents. I have learned about that important role through many school tours where parents will speak of their own Catholic Primary School journey, and how they want to give their children the chances that they had.
One of our gifts of the Holy Spirit is wisdom. This can only come through experience. One of the best opportunities for this sharing of wisdom is to model asking questions of those 'more experienced' people in our lives. It does not need to be twenty questions, but encouraging good questions where we can be genuinely curious about the experiences from the past.
A few qustions to start the conversation might be:
- How many children were in a class when you were at school?
- If you could give yourself advice to your younger self, what would it be?
We can't 'make' people be curious, but we can model how to have curious conversations!
Learning & Teaching
Literacy Writing Competition
We have some wonderful writers at Trinity Catholic Primary School. Across the school year, children are encouraged by their teachers to enter writing competitions to showcase their writing talents.
We have recently had four of our students have their work published in a writing magazine. Those students should be very proud of themselves.
Congratulations to -
Max

These students will be presented with an award at assembly. We encourage all students to continue with their fantastic writing.

CHILD SAFE STANDARDS WORKING WITH CHILDREN
Trinity has zero tolerance towards child abuse and is therefore committed to complying with the Ministerial Order No. 1359 – Implementing the Child Safe Standards – Managing the Risk of Child Abuse in Schools and School Boarding Premises. All parents/guardians wishing to help in the classroom, canteen or attend excursions MUST have completed the PARENT HELPER WORKSHOP and hold a current WORKING WITH CHILDREN CARD.
Further details are available from the school office or the Justice Department website. All parent/guardian helpers must sign in at the office before proceeding to the classrooms. Your current Working with Children card must be displayed at all times when working in the classrooms and attending excursions.
A reminder to all Parents/Carers, supervision by School Staff begins at 8.30am before school and after school only at the drop off area until 3.30pm.
Please observe and supervise your children as they play on the equipment. Thank you for your co-operation.
ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL
In the case of illness/absence please call the school office by 8.30am or login to PAM to send a notification no later than 9.00am on the day of absence.
An SMS will be sent (daily) to Parents after 9.30am for any unexplained student absences.
If no contact can be made or no absence is reported the school may phone emergency contacts to ensure student safety.
If you are going away on holidays you must advise in writing to the Principal BEFORE you leave.
Thank you.
Trinity Car Park Etiquette
- For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
- Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOT a meeting area.
- The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
- The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDING zones. If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
- There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park. All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
- THE GATES CLOSE AT 8.50am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close for the day at 3:30pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
- The Staff Car Park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY. Please do not use it as a drop off/pick up for students.
Thank you for your patience and consideration of others

Trinity Fundraising
Fundraising in 2023
Next year we will be re-introducing fundraising initiatives as a way of bringing much needed funds back into the school to begin developing our school grounds and purchasing new equipment for the classroom. The fundraising committee are already busy planning some events such as a Colour Fun Run, Hot Cross Bun and Cookie Drive, Disco, Themed Days, just to name a few. More details will come out next year about each event. We will also be tapping into some small local businesses throughout the year who will support the school through their business. The first of these is Gabbie from Milkwick candles. These candles will make some great Christmas presents and support the school in beginning their fundraising journey.
New members are most welcome!
