SAFE AROUND Trinity Catholic Primary
From the Principal
What a joyful day we had a Trinity last Friday!
Our Grandparents and Special Friends Day was a wonderful celebration of the love, wisdom and support that surrounds our young people. From the moment the guests arrived, the smiles said it all. Thank you to everyone who made the time to be with us.
We began with a beautiful prayer service, giving thanks for the gift of family and friends. Father Ajin joined us and gave our guests a special blessing. Everyone was then invited to enjoyed classroom visits, where students proudly shared some of their learning and did some activities with their visitors. The buzz of conversation and laughter was joyous to hear!
A huge thank you to all of the staff for their thoughtful preparation, support, organisation and the warm hospitality, generously given, across the school. Events like these remind us that we are, indeed, “Growing together in faith, hope and love”.
To our Grandparents and Special Friends: thank you for your steadfast encouragement and for all the unseen ways you support our students and our school.
Inform and Empower
We had a number of parents attend the Inform and Empower - Raising Kids in a Digital World held at Don Bosco Primary School. Marty and Carley’s presentation was both informative and engaging and everyone present gained much knowledge.
As a follow up from the night, the Engage and Empower Team have provided us with a link to all of the information that was presented. Please take the time to listen to the presentation, I am sure you will gain a lot from it. The link will last for 30 days.
Here are the details, please click on the link:

School Disco
On Friday the 24th of October we held our annual School Disco. It was wonderful to see so many of our students spending time together dancing the night away! Thank you to everyone who made the School Disco such a successful event. Our Fundraising Committee, along with the volunteers on the night, worked tirelessly to create a fun, safe environment for our students. Thank you also to the school staff who stayed to support the students!
Staffing News
We have some staff starting new chapters in 2026.
Emily Rogers has accepted a position at St Josephine Bakhita’s for the 2026 school year. Nicole Cicchini has accepted a position at St Michael’s in Berwick for the 2026 school year. Mrs Renee Albert has taken on a fulltime position at Narre Warren P-12 where she already works 4 days a week.
I would like to thank these educators for the contributions they have all made to Trinity over the time they have been with us. We congratulate them on their new positions and wish them all the very best for their futures.
Student Leadership for 2026
As we look ahead to 2026, we are making a small change to the way student leadership will be organised at Trinity. From next year, our student leadership roles will run from the start of the school year through to the end of the year. This will allow our new leaders to experience a full year in their roles and to learn directly from our current Grade 6 leaders through a smooth and supportive handover process.
During the second half of Term 4, our Grade 5 students will take part in a range of leadership activities and reflections designed to help them explore what leadership means and how they can contribute to the life of our school.
Once this has been completed, the application process will be explained to the students and interested students will be given the opportunity to apply for the various positions. Grade 5 students will receive more information about this from their teachers in the coming weeks.
Our 2026 student leaders will be announced later in the term, and we will celebrate their commissioning at our final school Mass for the year.
We are so proud of our current leaders and grateful for their example. We look forward to seeing our next group of young leaders step forward with enthusiasm, confidence and a heart for service.

Term 4, Week 5 - Religious Education
Dear Families,
Grandparents & Special Friends Day Celebration
On Friday, we were delighted to welcome our Grandparents and Special Friends to Trinity for a special day of celebration. The morning began with a beautiful Prayer Service, where Fr. Ajin joined us to offer a special blessing for all our guests. Our students shared heartfelt messages about what they love most about their Grandparents and Special Friends through a video presentation and a wonderful performance by our school choir.
Following the service, visitors were invited into classrooms to take part in a range of fun activities with the students. Despite the rainy weather, spirits remained high and the joy of being together filled every room. The celebration concluded with a lovely morning tea in the hall, where our guests enjoyed connecting with one another and sharing in the warmth of our school community.
It was a wonderful morning that reminded us of the love, wisdom and support our Grandparents and Special Friends bring into our lives.

Remembrance Day Prayer Service - 11th November
Our Social Justice Leaders are busy preparing for our upcoming Remembrance Day Prayer Service, where our Trinity students and staff will come together to honour and remember those who have served and sacrificed for our country.
The leaders have been thoughtfully planning prayers, readings, and reflections to help us commemorate this important day with respect and gratitude.
Kind regards,
Emily Rogers
Religious Education Leader
Respectful Relationships
In 2015, there was a Royal Commission into Family Violence which aimed to find ways to prevent family violence, improve support for victim survivors and hold perpetrators to account. In 2016, the Royal Commission released 227 recommendations to improve Victoria’s response to family violence. Recommendation 189 was to mandate the introduction of respectful relationships education into every Victorian Government school.
Unfortunately, our local area has one of the highest rates of family violence in Victoria. According to Crime Statistics Victoria, during the 2023/24 financial year, Casey had 5,738 incidents of family violence recorded by Victoria Police, the highest number of any local government area in Victoria. Studies show that women are far more likely to be the victims of domestic and family violence, compared to men.
According to Our Watch, a national leader in the prevention of violence against women, gender inequality provides the underlying context for violence against women. Therefore, it is vitally important that we teach our young people the importance of equality, inclusion and respectful relationships, so as to positively influence their attitudes in promoting gender equality within our communities.
What is Respectful Relationships?
In the classroom, children will learn about respect, gender equality and how to build healthy relationships, resilience and confidence. While we have always explicitly taught Social & Emotional Learning as part of the Personal & Social Capabilities in the Victorian Curriculum, we will have an additional resource, Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships. These age-appropriate and evidence-based materials are designed to enable teachers to develop student’s social and emotional capabilities to promote positive, healthy and respectful relationships. They provide teachers with handouts and activities for students that guide classroom discussion.
When children build positive relationships with their teachers and peers they feel safer and happier at school, are more resilient and have positive social attitudes. Positive relationships also increase a child’s sense of social connectedness and belonging which can result in better health and academic outcomes.
More information about the resources and activities will be shared in the coming newsletters.

SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA (SSV)
SOUTHERN METROPOLITAN REGION ATHLETICS
On Friday 24th October, five students represented Trinity, the Hampton Park District and the Casey South Division at the Southern Metropolitan Region Athletics held at Casey Fields Regional Athletics Centre.
Jude - 5C (long jump), Chloe H - 5B (4 X 100m relay), Kayrah - 5B (100m, 200m and 4 X 100m relay), Mila - 4A (4 X 100m relay) and Kate - 4B (4 X 100m relay) competed against students across eight divisions, spanning well over 200 schools.
A huge congratulations to these incredible athletes for all achieving an outstanding 3rd place for the under 9/10 long jump and the 4 X 100m relay. Their hard work, determination, and team spirit were on full display, and we couldn’t be prouder of the way they represented our school, district and division. Although they just missed out on qualifying for the state competition, we know that they will be more determined than ever to achieve personal bests next year. It was such a pleasure to see how proud they were and how they acknowledged their achievements at such a high level of competition.
Well done on such a fantastic effort!
Thank you to the parents for supporting their child and the students on the day and with their extra training.
Mrs Woolf (PE Teacher)

Day for Daniel

In the coming weeks, we will recognise the 21st Day for Daniel, Australia’s largest child safety education and awareness event. The initiative teaches children to Recognise, React and Report when they feel unsafe. In 2025, Day for Daniel will be observed nationally on Friday 31st October. However, as this coincides with Trinity’s Grandparents Day, we will hold our Day for Daniel activities two weeks later, on Friday 14th November.
On the day, students are encouraged to wear red, which is the Daniel was wearing when he went missing. Students will be participating in Australia's Biggest Child Safety Lesson, which this year will have a theme of Safe Spaces, which focuses on creating safer environments for children, both on and offline. The junior (up to grade 3) lesson will teach students to identify what is real and what is fake. According to the Australian eSafety Commissioner, 38% of young people chat to strangers online, which often involves the stranger pretending to be someone they are not. The senior (grade 4 - 6) lesson will explore how chatbots and AI can influence children's lives. According to the Australian eSafety Commissioner, many children are using AI-driven chatbots for hours each day, about all sorts of topics. These chat-bots may not be designed to have conversations with children in age-appropriate ways, so can say things that are harmful.
Additionally, students will be Walking for Daniel. Since 2004, the Daniel Morcombe Foundation has organised this event to commemorate the walk Daniel was unable to complete. While our walk will not cover the full 4km, it serves to honour Daniel's memory and emphasise the importance of child safety.
For more information about how you can keep your children safe online, please refer to the Australian eSafety Commissioner's website.

CHILD SAFE STANDARDS WORKING WITH CHILDREN
Trinity has zero tolerance towards child abuse and is therefore committed to complying with the Ministerial Order No. 1359 – Implementing the Child Safe Standards – Managing the Risk of Child Abuse in Schools and School Boarding Premises. All parents/guardians wishing to help in the classroom, canteen or attend excursions MUST have completed the PARENT HELPER WORKSHOP and hold a current WORKING WITH CHILDREN CARD.
Further details are available from the school office or the Justice Department website. All parent/guardian helpers must sign in at the office before proceeding to the classrooms. Your current Working with Children card must be displayed at all times when working in the classrooms and attending excursions.
A reminder to all Parents/Carers, supervision by School Staff begins at 8.30am before school and after school only at the drop off area until 3.30pm.

Trinity Car Park Etiquette
- Please abide by the 5km/h limit the WHOLE TIME you are in the park area.
- For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays in our school car park.
- Thank you to all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOTa meeting area.
- The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
- The two parking bays closest to the office path are the only PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDINGzones. If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and either park or rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
- THE GATES CLOSEAT 8.45am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close at the end of the day at 3:25pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
- The Staff Car Park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY. Please do not use it as a drop off/pick up for students.
We really need commitment from families to NOT TURN RIGHT when exiting the car park. All vehicles must TURN LEFT for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
We also have families double parking along Oakgrove Drive and letting their children out. This is unsafe, prevents traffic flow and against road rules.
We have also been contacted by Casey Council, which patrols the area, about families performing U-turns on Oakgrove Drive. Their advice is as follows:
Ø U-turns are dangerous during the peak school times for pedestrians but also other drivers.
Ø They recommend NOT performing U-turns in this area. This is dangerous for children and pedestrians around a school precinct.
Ø They recommend driving further up to the roundabout on Oakgrove Drive, where you can turn around safely or exit away from the school.
If you have others picking up your children, such as Grandparents, can you please inform them of Trinity’s protocols or etiquette.
Thank you for taking the time to read this email and I look forward to your continued commitment to keep our students and families safe.
