Important changes in 2023
Earlier this term a new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement was passed for all staff in school settings. One of the major changes in the agreement was the working hours of school staff to try and align it with the normal working week of most industries. Whist the majority of the changes to be implemented will not impact on families, the following two components will play a small role.
Teaching staff will only be responsible for the supervision of children for a maximum of ten minutes prior to the school starting day. This means that staff will not be permitted to open the classroom doors until 8.35am each morning (currently 8.30am). The school gates therefore will only open at 8.30am and there will be NO supervision before this time. Students arriving before 8.30am will need to go to Before School Care.
Meetings after school with families (not including Family Learning Conversations) must be adjacent to the school day.
More information will be communicated to families as it is revealed.
End of Year Reports
The Semester Two Report will be available to families on Wednesday 14th December from 3.30pm in PAM. Please read your child’s report in conjunction with Seesaw.
2024 Foundation (Prep) Enrolments
We have now begun the process of enrolling 2024 Foundation students. If you have a child coming in 2024, or know of someone else who does, please contact the office for further details. School families will be required to enrol their child by the end of this current school year so we can open up placements to other families living in our zone at the beginning of 2023. Enrolment forms can be downloaded from the Trinity School Website.
2023 Camp Program
Next year the following camp experiences will be offered to our students.
Year 5 - Phillip Island Adventure Camp (February 22-24)
Year 4 - Oasis Camp in Mt Evelyn (May 1-2)
Year 6 – Grantville Lodge (October 23 - 25)
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
The Trinity school community will once again team up with St Vincent de Paul to provide Christmas hampers and gifts to those in need within our parish community. From today we will be collecting Christmas foods and items which can be placed in the baskets in the school atrium. For further information please contact the School Office.
End of Year Mass
Our End of Year Mass will be held on Friday 16th December at 9am in the School Hall. Parents are warmly invited to join in the celebration.
End of Year Assembly
The final school assembly will be held on Friday the 9th December at 2.30pm. This will be an opportunity to farewell any leaving staff. Families are encouraged to attend.
Christmas Carols
On Friday 16th December we will hold be celebrating Christmas will carols in the hall (or soccer pitch) from 1.50pm. Families are most welcome to attend. The children will be allowed to wear Christmas clothes and accessories on the day.

Religious Education- Week 9, Term 4
Many levels and the staff have been exploring the Creeds this term, specifically the Nicene Creed and the Apostles Creed.
At their heart, these are an expression of faith, an articulation of what it means to be Catholic.
At each mass, the community gathers together to express it together. The standing as one to express their belief is a powerful symbol of faith. Even standing to say it speaks of the importance it is held with.
The Nicene Creed has it's origins from a council held in Nicaea in the early Fouth Century. It was an attempt by the Catholic Church to articulate the beliefs of the church. It has been translated throughout the Church's history, including into English, but the original document is still displayed.
According to the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane:
the Nicene Creed could be more accurately titled the ‘Constantinopolitan Creed’, as it was formulated in 325 by the Council of Nicaea and later modified by the Council of Constantinople in 381 to the wording we have today. The Nicene Creed has a different section for each person of the Trinity and the wording has been a source of tension in the church since first formulated. The Nicene Creed was initially developed to stamp out the teaching of Arius, an Alexandrian priest who taught that Jesus was a created being and not present from the beginning as God was. Arius argued, that Jesus was human more than he was divine (which meant that he was not equal to God) as Arius wanted to uphold the Jewish teaching of monotheism (one God only). Constantine established the Council of Nicaea to reject the teachings of Arius.
The Apostle's Creed was written even earlier, believed to be in the Second Century, as the Early Christian's attempt to create a unified vision, as the Church began to spread.
Many people find it difficult to explain our Religion. This is understandable, as it is complex. However, at it's core are the beliefs stated in the Creed.
Below is the Nicene Creed. We encourage you to read, ponder and maybe if you are willing, say as a family.
Nicene Creed
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son, is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the Prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

SCHOOL TRANSITIONS
Whether it is starting school for the first time, moving up to a higher grade or embarking on a journey through secondary school, there is no doubt that any school transition is a very exciting time for children and parents. It means that the children are growing up!
However, for many it may also be a very anxious and stressful time for both parents and children. Parents need to be aware of their child’s feelings during any school transition and minimise anxiety so the process is an enjoyable experience for all. It is important for children to attend transition or orientation programs offered by schools. Familiarisation is often key to reducing stress levels. It is also important for parents to talk to their children about their expectations and being more responsible for their own needs.

Pokemon Cards
Pokemon Cards are back, being a big hit with many of the students.
For many students, these items are a great thing to use and play with at recess and lunch. They provide a purpose and stimulus for play and communication.
The issue with cards, which are called Trading Cards, or Collectibles, that students use them to trade and generally as with any trades in the world, someone wins and someone loses. These can be great lessons for students, but also can be very challenging for students to cope.
Rather than a simple ban, we want students to share ideas and stories with these cards. We will continue to talk to students about not trading and keep what is yours.
However, we need support from families to assist with communicating to students that they should not bring anything of great value to school, or keep their most prized cards at home. Whenever we take things into shared spaces, things can get misplaced, and what we hear is they have been stolen...however, often, we find cards out on the yard or in tubs.
We can not be over every conversation in the playground, which is a positive, as it is a vital part of social learning. With a few strategies, we can avoid major issues and learn to navigate social situations.
Kind Regards,
Paul Sharp
CELEBRATION OF LEARNING CERTIFICATES
Ambulance Victoria Visit
During Week 8 Trinity came alive with sound of ambulance sirens....for good reason! We were lucky to have Ambulance Victoria come and run sessions with all our students as part of our continuing commitment to Child Safety . Students learnt the important information they would need to communicate to 000 if there was an emergency. Students also enjoyed having the opportunity to explore inside (and drive) the ambulance. Senior students also got to refresh their knowledge of CPR and practise. We are very grateful that Ambulance Victoria made the time to come and work with our students.

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
Dear Parents and Carers,
As part of our Religious Education unit on Triune God the Grade Three students are coordinating a collection of goods for the Annual St Vincent de Paul Christmas appeal.

Many of these families struggle to make ends meet. The extra assistance we give in the spirit of Christmas, is genuinely appreciated and really does make a difference to them.
We would like to invite families to donate an item from the list below

- new toys (for children between the age of 2-12)

Trinity Car Park Etiquette
- For greater safety and visibility, we are requesting that all drivers reverse park into the marked bays.
- Thank you all who use the pedestrian crossing area. You are demonstrating to your children correct road safety practices. Once children cross the pedestrian crossing into the parking area, they, for their safety, need to be placed into vehicles promptly. The car park is NOT a meeting area.
- The lane around the edge of the car park (closest to the oval) are for vehicles waiting to pick children up from the Pick-up Zone ONLY.
- The two parking bays closest to the office path are the PICK-UP ZONES. These are NO STANDING zones. If your children are not ready to get into your car as you pull up to the pick-up zone, you must continue on and rejoin the end of the pick-up queue.
- There is NO RIGHT TURN when exiting the car park. All vehicles must turn left for the safety of others and to maintain traffic flow.
- THE GATES CLOSE AT 8.50am. They will RE-OPEN AT 3.00pm. The gates close for the day at 3:30pm. Occasionally they might reopen slightly later due to school activities.
- The Staff Car Park is for STAFF PARKING ONLY. Please do not use it as a drop off/pick up for students.
Thank you for your patience and consideration of others
